Whimsical Gift Box Cake

Red velvet fondant cake with swiss meringue buttercream

This was a cake I made for a girl who was turning 8 this year.  She loves horses, so I thought I'd make a little pony for her.  At the end I decided to add some butterflies as well just to have a more girlie feeling to it ;)

This was a 4-layer red velvet cake.  Each layer was 2" high, so this was a pretty big and heavy cake.

As it was so heavy, I had to make a sturdy cake board as well.  I always provide thick and sturdy cake boards to support heavy cakes.

Side view of the cake.

The ultra blonde pony ;)

Kitten Theme

This cake was made for a little cutie, Gian.  She turned 3 this year!  Gian's mommy requested a small cake for their small and casual birthday gathering at their home.
